I am going to keep this book review short and sweet. Both of these books are very good! A bit depressing, but they are obviously meant to get you to feel something and to contemplate deeper and more philosophical things. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver is about a girl, Samantha Kingston, who dies in a car crash but keeps reliving the same day over and over again. At the end of each day she either: dies again or just falls asleep and wakes up in the same day. She does different things each day and tried to change her fate. The end of the book is very vague; but, overall, it is a great book.
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher is about a boy, Clay Jensen, who one day gets a set of thirteen tapes on his doorstep. No clue as to who it is from, he discovers that the set of tapes was made by Hannah Baker, his old crush and girl who had killed herself a few weeks earlier. The tapes assure the person listening that if they received the tapes, there was one tape that addressed them and that they were a reason for her death. In one night, Clay discovers secrets beyond his wildest imagination. No spoilers!
In all, the reason I did a Joint Book Review was because they were both about that same topic. Both books really made you think about how everything leads to another thing. Anything we do - no matter how insignificant it is - creates a much bigger problem than we expect. Please read them! I enjoyed them - they are mature topics, however.
I recommend reading them, however I would only reread these books if I was outside feeling lazy and had nothing else to do. If you aren't typically lazy with nothing to do, just borrow them.
